Ada County Highway District is now accepting applications for the exempt position of Congestion Management Supervisor in the Congestion Management Department. This is a full-time, exempt position with a starting salary dependent on qualifications.

Primary Responsibilities:
Supervises the activities and staff of the Congestion Management section of the Traffic Operations Department. Also supervises the operations of the Traffic Management Center (TMC). Applies professional engineering knowledge and skills to traffic-related engineering projects.
Prepares and manages the fiscal budget for the section and assists in the preparation of funding proposals.
Oversees the design and construction of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), TMC operations, and other traffic control system projects.
Investigates and resolves traffic operations and ITS related problems and complaints; plans, organizes and implements traffic flow and safety improvements including signal timing and coordination; performs traffic operations/safety analyses; implements complex traffic engineering studies including accident analysis, speed, capacity analysis, and before-and-after studies.
Qualifications:
Requires a comprehensive knowledge of Traffic Engineering principles, practices, and techniques; traffic signal operations; ITS communications systems and equipment (i.e. Closed-Circuit TV and Variable Message Signs); intersection capacity analysis techniques.
Requires experience in management principles and practices with the ability to supervise the work of engineers and technicians.
Must have the ability to operate computer systems and hardware/software related to ITS and traffic signals.
Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering or related field is preferred, as well as engineering experience in timing and coordination of traffic signals. Possession of an active Idaho Professional Engineer (PE) license is also preferred.
Requires a valid Idaho Driver’s License and the ability to operate ACHD vehicles in the completion of duties.
