GZA is currently seeking a Project ManagerLevel Civil Engineer for our practice based in the Bedford, New Hampshire office. The position offers great potential for professional growth in an exciting working environment and the opportunity to apply the latest site civil engineering technology to a variety of projects throughout New England.
The qualified candidate must have strong leadership and project management experience and direct business development experience during their careers, with the ability to generate project leads and build client relationships.
GZA has civil engineering design needs on a wide variety of projects including, but not limited to, site civil engineering design, lake, stream, and bank restoration, drainage and flood control designs, wetland restoration and enhancement, hydraulic structure design, stormwater analysis, erosion and sedimentation control, dam removal and ecological restoration, environmental remediation and construction management projects, and related environmental permitting support. A sound knowledge of engineering principles relating to design and construction of civil engineering projects, stormwater systems, dams, and other water infrastructure, is essential for this position. The successful candidate must have a strong civil engineering background to support planning, design, and construction management activities for a variety of public and private transportation, utility, energy, and development projects.
This is a management position that requires direct interaction with clients and the ability to manage and mentor GZA existing staff of project-level engineers. You will also work closely with other GZA practices and personnel in Bedford and other GZA offices.
Key Responsibilities:
Managing project team, delegating work to office and field staff, and executing day-to-day project needs.
Communicating effectively and efficiently with contractors, clients and team members.
Monitoring and managing project compliance with contractual agreements and budgets, including terms of agreement, changes in scope, and billing process.
Conducting/reviewing technical analyses/calculations for the design and construction in support of a variety of projects.
Supporting the development of construction plans, specifications, cost estimates, bid documents.
Preparing and reviewing condition survey reports and other written project reports.
Participating in meetings and agency consultation.
Providing business development support including preparing proposals.
Managing and mentoring GZA existing staff of project-level engineers.
Working on multidisciplinary project teams including construction management, ecological, environmental, geotechnical, and water resources core service areas.
Perform additional job-related duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:
B.S. in Civil Engineering is required. Master’s Degree is a plus.
Professional Engineer license required.
A minimum of 7-9 years of experience in civil - site design, with direct involvement in surface water hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, water control structure designs, and permitting.
Direct experience completing projects with public sector/municipal agencies in the New England Region is highly preferred.
Proven experience with design and development of engineering drawings, technical specifications, cost estimating and other related bidding documents.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to speak publicly.
Self-starter, able to complete tasks with minimal supervision and direction.
Strong professional judgment, consistency, attention to detail, and background for delivering high-quality work products.
Innovative problem solving with strong organizational skills.
Ability to think critically and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Solid project financial management skills; knowledge of production support systems and personal computer proficiency are all required competencies.
Experience in providing technical and project leadership to staff-level or junior engineers.
A strong background using various hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software (i.e. HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, FLO2D, ICPR4, HydroCAD, StormCAD, CulvertMaster) is required.
Proven experience with and directing staff with AutoCAD and ArcView-GIS is considered essential for this position.
