With a reputation for innovation and unprecedented safety, Paducah Power System (PPS) provides a great opportunity for a Generation Technician skilled in Instrumentation and Controls. This individual will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of a 124 MW simple cycle gas turbine power plant in Paducah, Kentucky. The plant was commissioned in 2010 and maintains a 99% availability factor. This position plays a critical role in maintaining that availability and reliable service to our organization. We expect our technicians to be self-starters; team members who are willing to take responsibility and display initiative. Strong decision-making skills and excellent verbal and written communication abilities are required. PPS is approaching ten years without a lost time accident, so we are seeking someone who believes that safety comes first in all that we do.
Our technicians do the following:
- Operate, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain all instrumentation and electrical equipment required to support the plant.
- Perform maintenance and repair work on plant equipment, such as fans, turbines, and valves.
- Operate monitors and maintain turbines, generators, water treatment, motors, and combustion turbines.
- Operate and maintain Distributed Control System. Strong DCS and I/C skills required.
- Repair all types of instrumentation.
- Perform calibrations of the CO, NOx, and O2 analyzers.

- PPS is willing to train the selected candidate in the necessary operator training for power generation, if applicable.
- Non-standard working hours and overtime are required as needed. The technician will also participate in paid on-call rotation.
- Must live within a 30-minute response time to PPS (no exceptions).

Minimum requirements:
- A working knowledge of operating and maintaining combustion turbines and their auxiliary systems with four years of experience or an equivalent combination of experience and education. Education should include electrical engineering technology or the equivalent.
- Thorough knowledge of techniques, materials, and equipment needed for maintenance and operation of gas turbines.
- Strong electrical background with preferred experience testing, troubleshooting, and calibrating plant instrumentation meters, and their associated transmitters to the DCS and balance of plant.
- Experienced with PLCs and logic; VFDs, DC battery systems, networking, electrical schematic drawing interpretation, inspection and repair of valves and pumps and CEMS.
- Good communication and computer skills. This position communicates directly with vendors, grid dispatchers, and OEM representatives.
- General knowledge of OSHA 1910.269 regulations.
