STARTING SALARY RANGE: $82,742.00 - $101,373.00 annually dependent on qualifications. The salary range for this position is $82,742.00 - $120,003.00.

This position is responsible for the planning, implementation, and management of the department’s programs and projects including overseeing the village’s transit and bikeways programs. This position provides policy and technical advice to boards and commissions on transportation related items; works with counterparts in regional organizations related to transportation; and performs duties of considerable difficulty involving transportation related issues. The position also provides assistance with the department’s traffic programs and capital improvement program projects. Position is a senior position within the Department requiring strong supervisory skills, public contact, and the ability to exercise good judgment and work independently.
To succeed in this role, applicants will need to effectively and clearly communicate to a full range of people, be able to work cooperatively and effectively with others to achieve common goals, and develop and implement new process, service, or strategy with the aim of improving efficiency or effectiveness. We are looking to add a team member capable of prioritizing multiple projects, organize time and resources effectively, and have the ability to shift gears comfortably.
Bachelor’s Degree in Urban or Regional Planning, Public Administration, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
A minimum of three years of experience in transportation planning, engineering, project, or program management. Experience with direct staff supervision a plus.
A minimum of two years of supervisory experience as it relates to handling a range of managerial tasks such as monthly/yearly plans and objectives, budgetary control, service enhancement, managing projects, etc.
Professional certification is highly desired.
Proficiency with current computer software systems, including email, calendar programs, job specific software, and customer service systems preferred or within the first six months of employment.
Experience using the principles of multimodal transportation planning, finance and budgeting, program and project management, traffic and transit operations. Experience using basic accounting principles, preparing budgets and ability to administer program and project contracts. Experience working with boards, commissions media, public and outside agencies. Ability to make effective verbal and written presentations. Ability to write reports and prepare related correspondence.
1. WORKNG CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Necessity to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
2. Prolonged periods of concentration required for proof reading, calculation, reading site plans, reading and interpreting ordinances, rules or other legislation.
3. Ability to analyze, evaluate, organize, and interpret large quantities of data in a spreadsheet format.
4. Ability to manage and work effectively with diverse groups of people.
