Associate Traffic Engineer
City of Prescott
Position Summary: Under general supervision of the City Traffic Engineer/Division Manager, the Associate Traffic Engineer will perform professional engineering work in the planning, design, inspection, and administration of public works projects with emphasis on traffic engineering projects; and provide technical and functional supervision over other traffic engineering and operations staff.
This is a journey-registered level position in the professional engineering series and includes assignment of the full range of professional engineering duties and by possession of registration as a professional engineer within the State of Arizona. Employees at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies of the traffic group.

Minimum Qualifications: A Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field and registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Arizona. Must possess a valid Arizona driver’s license or obtain within 30 days of employment. Four (4) years of civil engineering practice, with an emphasis on traffic and transportation. Use of transportation modeling and/or signal timing software is preferred. Any equivalent combination of education, experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the essential functions of the position will be considered. Knowledge, Skill and Abilities:
Physical and Visual Ability: Work is performed in a standard City office environment and in the field. Operate a variety of standard office equipment including a computer, telephone, calculator, copy and fax machines requiring continuous and repetitive arm, hand, and eye movement. Tasks require the ability to exert moderate physical effort including, but not limited to, lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling, etc. of objects and materials of moderate weight (35 pounds or less). Hearing and Speaking Ability: Candidate must have sufficient ability to clearly, concisely and effectively communicate in person, over a two-way radio and by telephone.
