He/She develops moderately complex models and algorithms and designs products, programs, and solutions that impact cost management for all UPS operations, acquisitions, pricing, and performance improvement. Responsibilities and Duties
Develops and prototypes algorithms to ensure optimization results satisfy problem statements and business needs
Develops hypotheses, approaches (i.e., analytic plans and methodologies), tools, products, and solutions to solve problems and increase profitability
Presents analytic findings and recommendations to management to define problems, to propose business cases and strategies, and to gain support

Knowledge and Skills
Ability to develop interfaces with optimization models to meet the requirements of the planning process
Ability to provide consultation to functional partners to support the design of planning systems
Ability to develop procedures, maintenance, and support functions to monitor optimization and systems’ performance/integrity and to facilitate problem resolution
3 - 5 years' experience in developing and implementing optimization algorithms for operations planning systems
PhD in Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Civil Engineering or Statistics
