Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Standards Engineer is a new position to Cowlitz PUD and will be responsible for the development and maintenance of the District's construction, material, and engineering design standards as well as being the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) subject matter expert for the District. They provide technical support to Engineering, Operations, and Purchasing to perform or assist in evaluation of new materials, methods, and practices. They are the primary facilitator and coordinator for the District's Standards Committee. They may also act as lead design engineer, project engineer or project manager and interacts with crew superintendents, foreman, contractors, other utilities and regulatory agencies.
Experience, Working Conditions and Other Requirements:
We are looking for individuals that have a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with at least seven years of progressive experience in an engineering field and five years experience in transmission and distribution design.
Individuals that have previous experience with developing construction standards and a Professional Engineer's License is preferred.
Duties are generally performed in an office setting with a shared work area. Some field work will be required.

Public Utility District No. 1 of Cowlitz County (better known as Cowlitz PUD) is a publicly owned municipal corporation of the State of Washington. The purpose of this municipal corporate organization is for efficient generation, transmission and distribution of electrical energy. The PUD is owned by the residents of Cowlitz County and operates on revenues from the sales of its services. The PUD has limited statutory authority to levy taxes.
