Innovation and Technical Services Manager

Role and Responsibilities Under the supervision of the director of innovation and technical services, this position supports projects and programs for all innovation and technical services activities. The innovation and technical services manager will support ATSSA’s strategic and operational goals by managing logistics and ensuring program goals are met in a wide range of projects and events that support the positioning of ATSSA as the leader in roadway safety. - Supports technical services work by managing, researching and responding to incoming member technical inquiries under the supervision of the director; coordinates responses to other technical inquiries or projects that require ATSSA’s input on technical issues (i.e. CAV, MASH, etc.); coordinates technical responses and work associated with grants, contracts, training, products, new business and innovation initiatives; understands the position of members in order to provide relevant feedback. - Provides input for the development of the strategic and operations plans for innovation and technical services initiatives and programs and completes tasks in support of those plans. - Manages projects and completes tasks associated with grants, contracts, training, products and new business opportunities; successfully supports the management of grant budgets and brings issues of concern to the director’s attention. - Successfully manages contracts; manages product inventory, sales and budget. - Coordinates advisory group meetings and activities for conferences, manages deadlines and ensures program initiatives move forward. - Coordinates logistics for Innovation Awards, Circle of Innovation, Traffic Control Device Challenge and New Product Rollout; completes assigned tasks to support success of the programs including ordering awards, coordinating schedules, coordinating MARCOM activities as directed. - Manages production of case studies and coordinates review panels as needed. - Coordinates comment calls and docket comments provided on behalf of the Association; responds to notices of proposed rulemaking; participates on calls as needed. - Coordinates the schedule, presenters and logistics of Tuesday Topics webinars to ensure successful production of the program. - Serves as liaison to committees as assigned. - Provides input to budget development and management; provides accurate information to accounting as requested. - Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or similar area and a minimum of four years of relevant technical industry experience; Engineer in Training (EIT) or eligibility to sit for P.E. licensure preferred. Well organized; strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills; proven ability to produce high quality written technical documents; ability to bring projects to completion within the schedule provided and work around problems; flexibility and ability to adapt to change quickly; computer literate; knowledgeable of the roadway safety industry with a particular emphasis on temporary traffic control, signing, pavement markings, and roadside safety; and expertise in roadway safety publications like the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) and the Roadside Design Guide. Experience with the transportation and roadway safety industry is preferred.
