Manage the production staff, editors, freelance editors, and office standard operating procedures for processing documents to be published by PCI.
Manage the processes and tasks required for publication of all technical information including the PCI Journal, ASPIRE, and technical committee documents. Technical committee documents might include reports, manuals, and standards.
Provide a final technical edit of technical information to be published including verification of edits provided by copy editors and other technical editors.
Specific to the PCI Journal, responsibilities will include an initial review of submitted papers to confirm relevance and adherence to author guidelines for acceptance or rejection, managing sensitive or contentious issues related to authors and submissions, peer reviewer selection, review process monitoring and mediating, assurance of successful review and proofing all content prior to print.
Manage the work of the Journal Advisory Committee and the Journal Awards Committee and convening meetings at least twice per year.
In consultation with Staff management and relevant committees, establish and maintain standards and guidelines for PCI technical content, including editorial, graphic, functional (for website) dimensions.
Ensure that technical information from staff and committee work, research, contracted work, and other sources is collected, organized, themed, edited, visually designed, and communicated in the most comprehensive and effective manner possible for each publishing channel and target audience.
Work with the President, Staff management, and relevant committees to plan and implement technical information publication strategies that support and strengthen PCI and help implement PCI and Industry strategies.
A bachelor’s degree (in journalism, strategic communications, content marketing, marketing or related degree) plus a minimum of five-to-seven years related work experience (relevant internships will be considered as work experience). A combination of education and experience is evaluated. Association experience is a strong plus.
Professional, well-developed copy writing and technical editing skills including demonstrable competence using AP Stylebook and other style manuals as appropriate.
Professional demeanor necessary for communicating information to management, council and committee members, board members, general membership, media, influencers, and PCI staff and projecting a positive image as a representative of the Institute.
A positive, proactive personality and an approachable team player
Demonstrated organization, project planning and time management skills and ability to prioritize work and multi-task.
Attention to detail required, with excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency in MS Office, social media platforms, and basic understanding of website and digital analytics required.
