This position will report to the CFO and be responsible for overseeing and analyzing cost expenditures and purchases within the organization. The Cost Accountant will review existing purchases, record data, recommend new cost-efficient and financially feasible cost options, and oversee purchasing costs. This position will also work across teams to present and translate important financial information and assist in company audits
Cost Accountant Key Responsibilities:
Perform month end close activities related to cost accounting
Prepare actual versus budget and prior year analysis of plan margins
Prepare various financial analysis related to manufacturing costs, inventory, and expense analysis, including detailed analysis of manufacturing variances.
Record and maintain accurate standard costs for direct labor, materials and overhead for manufactured product and accurate overall standard costs for sourced product. Insure cost accuracy in our Great Plains ERP.
Responsible for accuracy and integrity of all BOM’s, maintain periodic cost rolls/updates.
Analyzes changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing methods, or services provided, to determine effects on costs. Detailed comparison and analysis of actual versus standard costs.
Prepares estimates of new and proposed product or service costs.
Prepares and presents insightful analysis of costs, including key raw materials, and the impact on profitability.
Maintain and improve processes and controls associated with manufacturing costs and inventory valuation.
Lead and manage a quarterly excess and obsolete inventory review process.
Support the implementation of the Great Pains manufacturing and costing modules.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
Minimum of 2-4 years of accounting and cost accounting experience
Prior experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains) is required
Proficient knowledge of MS Office with expert level with Excel
Strong problem solving and analytical skills with attention to detail
Must be able to handle multiple tasks at the same time
Action oriented - enjoys working towards goals/deadlines
Strong work ethic – willing to put in extra effort when required
Dedication to meeting the expectation and requirements of internal and external customers
Excellent communication skills with the ability to work within a team or independently
