The Walt Disney Company is seeking an experienced energy planning professional to join its energy management team as a Manager, Energy Planning. The Manager, Energy Planning at Reedy Creek Energy Services (RCES), a Walt Disney World (WDW) subsidiary, is a part of an organization responsible for operating and maintaining the utility infrastructure that serves the WDW Resort on behalf of Reedy Creek Improvement District (RCID). The utilities consist of both traditional and non-traditional systems including traditional electricity generation, solar generation, transmission and distribution systems, potable water, wastewater collection and treatment, reclaimed water, natural gas, solid waste collection, central chilled water and hot water systems, compressed air systems, roadway and sign maintenance, drainage facilities, and landfill operation.
As the Manager, Energy Planning you would manage the electric and natural gas long-term planning on behalf of the Reedy Creek Improvement District (RCID). You would be responsible for optimizing all electric purchases and natural gas commodity purchases and hedging activity. You would also administer RCID’s risk management program, manage the natural gas pipeline activity and regulatory requirements, regulatory interface and compliance with state and federal authorities as it relates to RCID’s integrated resource plan (IRP). Finally, you would also evaluate and optimize term transactions ranging from 6 months up to 20 years, prepare long-term load forecasts, prepare annual electric and natural gas budgets, and actively participate in electric and natural gas contract development and negotiations.
This position will report to a Director of Reedy Creek Energy Services and will lead a team of Energy and Business Analysts.
Manage the integrated resource plan for RCID which includes the electric and natural gas resources to serve customer load within the RCID service territory:
Prepare electric and natural gas operating budgets
Coordinate hedging activity with respect to natural gas and electricity
Conduct, summarize, and report monthly hedge settlements
Develop long-term load forecasts for electric and natural gas consumption
Optimize long-term energy costs by leveraging business relationships with business partners
Develop energy tracking mechanisms, modeling methods, and modeling tools to assist in the decision making process for electric and natural gas supply portfolio:
Prepare comparative and summary reports for the management team
Coordinate OASIS requests, System Impact Studies, Transmission Service Agreements, and Designation of Network Resources with Transmission Providers
Prepare regulatory reports for DOE, FERC, PSC, NERC, and FRCC
Prepare analysis of special projects as assigned by leader
Prepare monthly electric and natural gas summary activities for RCID Board submission
Please apply if you have:
Demonstrated exceptional analytical skills
Demonstrated understanding of electric planning tools such as production costing and econometric modeling required for the decision making process
Demonstrated understanding of regulatory issues at the FERC, PSC and NERC with working knowledge of the FRCC
Demonstrated understanding of utility contracts including OATT, EEI, NAESB, FERC tariffs
Working knowledge of the International Swap and Derivatives Association, Inc. (ISDA) Master and CSA agreements
Exceptional supervisory skills to lead a team of engineers and analysts
Exceptional external business relationships in the utility industry
Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word
It would be great if you also have:
Five (5) years conducting and managing long-term power supply plans and implementation
Five (5) years managing natural gas operations including nominations, commodity procurement and counterparty hedging
Demonstrated understanding of natural gas pipeline operating and regulatory environments
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics or Industrial Engineering concentrations or similar
Master’s degree in Business Administration
