Wood Environment & Infrastructure Solutions is currently seeking a qualified Geotechnical Engineer to join our team in Surrey BC.
The Surrey office provides professional consulting services in the areas of geotechnical engineering, slope stability, terrain mapping, foundation design, pavement design and materials engineering studies throughout southwest British Columbia. The Surrey office is new and has a CCIL accredited laboratory facility.
In order to meet these demands we have an immediate opening on our team for a full geotechnical engineer with a keen interest in slope stability, seismic design, foundation design and construction.
Geotechnical project engineering and project management role on a wide variety of transportation, commercial, resource industry, land development, geohazard and industrial projects in very diverse terrain and geological conditions (slopes, retaining walls, etc.)
Client liaison and business development
Field and office geotechnical engineering duties through all phases of investigation, design and construction review
Preparation of technical proposals and reports
Opportunity to collaborate with other Wood offices / geotechnical engineering staff on projects in Western Canada
Skills and Qualifications
University graduate with degree in Geotechnical, Geological or Civil (Geotechnical) Engineering
Currently registered or eligible for registration as a P.Eng. with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia
Industry experience in providing practical geological / geotechnical engineering services relevant to a variety of sectors: power transmission and distribution, municipal, transportation, natural resources and utilities, building structures
Strong project management record of achievement as well as proven communication skills (written and oral)
Valid Driver’s License
Commitment to provide excellent client service and high-quality work products
Knowledge of regional terrain / geotechnical conditions and / or a master’s degree would be an asset
Additional experience in pavement design or materials engineering would also be an asset
