The Engineering Technician 2 will assist the public by providing engineering related information, conduct plan review for private development projects and capital improvements and review application and issue site development division permits. May also issue utility permits and sidewalk/driveway permits. This is an SEIU position.

Work with the public, other agencies and contractors, including responding to and processing requests for information, advice on related standards and providing information.
Calculate and collect fees for site development, right of way permits, facility (utility) permits, sidewalk permits.
Issue over-the-counter permits after determining the correct permit type, fees and information required on the application is correct based on applicable laws and ordinances.
Perform engineering related functions including plan review for compliance with city, county, state and federal codes, ordinances, regulations, rules, statues and laws.
Research and evaluate individual site properties for mapping and elevations for sewer lateral connections and assist in building permit issuance.
Assist in a variety of duties as assigned, both technical, inspection and operational process related.
Utilize computer applications for plan review (Bluebeam), permit tracking (Excel and Access), and communications (Word and Outlook).
Provide excellence in internal and external customer service.
Support and respect diversity in the workplace.

Associate's degree in civil engineering technology, surveying or related field
Three years of experience in engineering or related field.
OR Bachelor's degree in civil engineering technology, surveying or related field and one year of experience in engineering or related field.
Valid driver's license and the ability to meet the city's driving standards.
Ability to pass reference and background check.
Knowledge of the principles and practices of Civil Engineering Technology and design.
Strong ability to read engineering maps, plans and specifications.
