Civil Science is currently seeking a Transportation Engineer – Project Manager to join our team. This unique position can be located in either of our Lehi or St. George, Utah office locations. In this role you will work on a diverse project portfolio with a variety of clients across Utah. Additionally in this role you will work closely with clients, other project managers, firm principals, and support staff to ensure the successful completion of projects for our clients. Key to succeeding in this role will be your ability to coordinate staff efforts to ensure timely and cost effective solutions to demanding project requirements.
Typical duties and responsibilities include Project Management and design oversight of various transportation related projects for our Firm. This includes: supervision, coordination, and QA/QC of the work of staff of engineers and technicians. Additionally this role will be client facing and as such, you will need the ability to create or leverage strategic relationships with current and potential clients.
Client interaction and coordination on a frequent basis.
Coordinates the plans and schedules of detailed phases of the engineering work and performs the design of major projects. Monitors time schedules and job costs and adjusts to comply with each.
Performs the design calculations of projects and checks design work of staff and design engineers assigned to project under his control
Supervises assistants, designers, technicians, and CADD operators/drafters assigned to project team.
Prepares preliminary engineering reports, including feasibility reports, and presentation to clients, or various stakeholders.
Participates in marketing and proposal stage of new projects.
Maintains written records of decisions, conferences, telephone conferences, manufacturer’s input, so that the completed project has a verifiable set of professional judgments and decisions.
Maintains project documentation neatly for the permanent record.
May be designated as a Technical Leader within area of expertise.
Bachelor’s Degree in appropriate engineering discipline.
Registration as a Professional Engineer in Utah or the ability to gain licensure within 6 months of hire.
A minimum of six years’ experience in Civil Engineering or related work
Proven technical leadership ability and communication skills to work effectively with other people at all levels.
Working knowledge of related design related software packages.
Previous experience working with or managing Utah Department of Transportation projects.
