Wayne County Airport Authority (WCAA) is an independent agency established in 2002 by the Michigan State Legislature to operate and maintain Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW) and Willow Run Airport (YIP). Having welcomed more than 32.4 million passengers in 2011, DTW is Michigan’s busiest airport and one of the world’s largest air transportation hubs with more than 1,200 flights per... day to and from 150 destinations on four continents. DTW is home to the world’s sixth-busiest airline hub--and the second-busiest for Delta, where the airline operates its primary U.S. transpacific gateway. In 2010, DTW ranked highest in overall customer satisfaction among large airports in the J.D. Power and Associates’ North America Airport Satisfaction Study. With two new passenger terminals, six jet runways, and a world-class Westin Hotel, DTW is among the most efficient, customer-friendly and operationally-capable airports in North America. Located just seven miles west of DTW, YIP serves as an important cargo/general reliever airport and a key economic asset for Southeast Michigan. The Airport Authority is entirely self-sustaining and does not receive any tax dollars to support airport operations.
