St. Mary’s County Metropolitan Commission has an immediate opening for a Chief Engineer.
Manages the projects and contracts of design and construction contractors, including change orders, schedules, payment certification and problem solving; Oversees the development plans and specifications by Commission personnel as well as consultants, including standard specifications and details and design guidelines for water and wastewater facilities; Oversees the inspection of all Commission and private development construction projects to ensure compliance with plans and specifications; Studies the overall water and wastewater needs within the County and recommends capital improvements necessary to correct deficiencies and to ensure that adequate facilities are available to support existing and planned development; Oversees the MetCom construction permitting process; Manages the Engineering Department, Construction Department and Inspection Staff; Keeps the Commission advised on the progress of design and construction programs including mapping, permits, proposed development, etc; Oversees mapping of water and wastewater lines; Responsible for the preparation of construction cost estimates; preparation of the Departments annual operation budget and for monitoring departmental spending and construction project expenditures to ensure that it stays within budget limits.
