The School of Sustainable Engineering and the Built Environment (http://ssebe.engineering.asu.edu/) one of the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering (http://engineering.asu.edu/) at Arizona State University seeks applicants for tenure-track/tenured faculty position at the Associate or Full Professor level in the field of construction engineering and/or construction management.
Areas of interest include, but are not limited to:
- Heavy infrastructure
- Prevention of safety incidences through design
- Safety processes and practices
- Specialty/innovative construction methods
- Sustainable construction
- General construction methods
This position is expected to provide senior leadership for the construction programs.
SSEBE’s growing programs in Construction Engineering and Construction Management are a core focus of the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering. It supports innovative research in construction processes, sustainable infrastructure design and systems, mixed reality for enhanced visualization, advanced technology facilities, integrated project delivery, automated geometric information retrieval, front end planning, and facility management, and contributes broadly to multidisciplinary research and teaching efforts aimed at addressing challenges facing the built environment. Close collaborations exist with faculty across the university including the Julie Ann Wrigley Global Institute of Sustainability (https://sustainability.asu.edu/), Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts (http://herbergerinstitute.asu.edu/), and the W.P. Carey School of Business (https://wpcarey.asu.edu/). This search is aimed at further broadening and strengthening this interdisciplinary collaborative enterprise.
- Ph.D. degree in Construction, Civil or Architectural Engineering, Construction Management, or a closely related field
- Demonstrated evidence of research capability
- Commitment to teaching excellence as appropriate to the candidate’s rank
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant industry experience
- Hold either a P.E. or CPC designation
The ideal candidate will support two or more existing strategic thrust areas within SSEBE, including: Sustainability, Energy, Health, Security, and Education, while working cooperatively with scholars throughout the University.
Faculty members are expected to develop an internationally recognized and externally funded research program, adopt innovative educational practices in both graduate and undergraduate instruction, advise students, and undertake service activities. Appointment will be at the Associate or Full Professor rank commensurate with the candidate’s experience and accomplishments.
