Orange County is pleased to announce an exciting opportunity. We are seeking a motivated, high energy, self-starter to serve in the role of Senior Engineer. Performs advanced professional engineering work and provides supervision for one or more engineering functions of a specialized nature. This is advanced professional engineering work of a complex nature with extensive supervisory duties. Work is performed with considerable independence under the general supervision of the designated supervisor.
1.Supervise daily operations of the Traffic Management Center.
2.Investigate traffic signal timing complaints and recommend appropriate changes.
3.Coordinate ITS projects from planning through deployment.
4.Maintain timely and accurate handling of records, to include signal timing sheets, traffic counts, design plans, and related forms and documents.
5.Analyze traffic data and develop new signal timing coordination plans.
6.Monitor the Central Traffic Signal System and maintain timing database.
7.Manage traffic flow during special events, incidents, and emergencies.
8. Coordinate meetings with other public agencies, consultants, contractors, and vendors.
9. Prepare procurement documents for design, purchase, and deployment ITS projects.
Graduation from a accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, and six years of experience in traffic engineering experience.
Must be licensed in Florida as a professional engineer within one (1) year of hire.
Experience in traffic signal timing and Intelligent Transportation Systems, review of signal and interconnect design plans and engineering reports
Experience with configuration of signal controllers and ITS devices
Experience with Highway Capacity Manual procedures and MUTCD
Experience using HCS and Synchro
Experience with configuration and operation of adaptive signal systems, CCTV cameras, Dynamic Message Signs, and Bluetooth travel time detectors
