VDOTs Traffic Engineering Division (TED) is seeking an experienced engineer to provide support to the Districts and TED by managing and/or conducting traffic studies and operations analysis. Other duties include, but are not limited to: supporting the Division’s effort with performance measures and data management programs; managing congestion, reliability and trend analysis programs; and evaluating leading trends and innovations in the Big Data arena for implementation at VDOT.
Minimum Requirements: Professional Engineer’s (PE) License. Extensive knowledge of database analysis and visualization software, such as Oracle, Tableau and other business intelligence tools. Knowledge of traffic data as well as traffic engineering principles and practices. Knowledge of various traffic engineering analysis and capacity software. Ability to analyze, validate, and prioritize solutions based on various Measures of Effectiveness. Ability to learn new and innovative traffic engineering concepts and theories, and to use that information to analyze solutions for mobility and reliability improvement. Skilled in SQL, and in the use of Microsoft Access and other Microsoft office products. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, and to make presentations.
Experience with Big Data Analytics. Experience facilitating technical and/or public presentations. Data Analytics Certification.
