Huitt-Zollars' Phoenix, Arizona office has an immediate career opportunity for a Vice President/Senior Civil Engineer to provide leadership, guide business development and project management on regional projects that have a diverse client base. The candidate must be a licensed professional engineer in the state of Arizona. They should have a minimum 10 years of engineering design experience on infrastructure and land development projects with a minimum of 7 years of staff supervisory and project management experience.
Supervising the effective and efficient day to day operation of the office
Meeting and maintaining relationships with cities, counties, MPO's, local agencies and private development clients
Leading and managing selected projects
Preparing statement of qualifications and letters of interest
Preparing proposals and negotiating contracts
BSCE Degree (Advanced Degree Preferred)
Must be licensed and Registered Professional Engineer in Washington
Minimum 10 years of engineering design experience on infrastructure and land development
Seven years of staff supervisory and project management experience
Proven ability to market clients and secure contracts is a must
Proven ability to manage people
Track record of superior client service to the local market
Business Development: Actively markets the qualification of self, staff and company to existing clients as well as identifies and markets new clients. Assists business development in coordination and preparation of qualifications and proposals by providing project staff, assisting in technical write up and understanding of projects. Actively participates in professional societies and organizations, working on committee staff and special projects that serve to demonstrate the Huitt-Zollars' commitment to the community and the profession.
Staff Management: Manages the day to day assignments of assigned staff, scheduling time and resources to maximize the efficient and effective use of billable time. Responsible for a thorough understanding of corporate policy and procedures and enforcing same. Handles personnel problems in a professional manner and with the assistance of the human resources manager, if necessary. Responsible for the selection of staff in accordance with established policies and procedures. Responsible for the professional development of staff through personal mentoring as well as establishing a mentoring practice.
Support to Others: Support other offices as required in directing the technical effort for projects, the development of new business, the preparation of responses to RFPs and SOQs, the preparation for presentations, and interfacing/coordinating the efforts of the office with other offices and the corporate office.
Budget: Prepares an annual operating budget in accordance with existing policy and procedures and manages the day to day operations and work effort to the budget. Responsible for the office's profitability.
Technical: Responsible for the office's adherence to established corporate technical standards.
The Sr. Civil Engineer will be responsible for the adherence to corporate quality assurance and quality control standards on all projects.
