Under direction, is responsible for performing engineering work which requires a considerable level of analysis and detailed calculations. Exercises direct supervision over assigned staff and functional and technical supervision of project staff.

Essential Job Functions:
Responsible for creating design specifications for various public works projects.
Performs detailed engineering calculations.
Prepares analysis reports of assigned engineering projects.
Performs site assessments and environmental assessments as needed.
Conducts public meetings and various public relations tasks which may include media briefings.
Supervises assigned staff in the day-to-day operations and directs project staff as needed.
Responds to citizen inquiries and complaints regarding assigned projects.
Provides technical assistance to other divisions and departments.
Coordinates with other divisions, departments, or municipal agencies on projects under design.
Meets with consultants on various projects to discuss designs and design problems.
Performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required.
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited college, university or engineering school approved by the State of Texas Board of Registration for Professional Engineers.
One (1) year of engineering experience.
No substitution for education allowed.
Valid Class 'C' Texas Driver's License.
Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification in the State of Texas or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification from another state with the ability to obtain an EIT Certification in the State of Texas within six (6) months of employment.
Traffic engineering experience.
Familiar with Texas Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices.
