A leader in Abandoned Mine Reclamation and innovative treatment approaches, Spectrum develops pragmatic solutions to address the complex geological, chemical, hydrological, and physical challenges found in both hard rock and soft rock mines. Currently, Spectrum has a position open in the Billings, MT office for a senior to principal level professional engineer with a strong skill set in mine reclamation design and construction oversight. Willing to consider delayed relocation to Billings, MT.
Responsibilities / Duties
Supervise a multidisciplinary staff of engineers and technicians, perform technical reviews/project management and lead engineering design efforts for reclamation projects. Serve as a Senior Manager responsible for the management of project schedules, deliverables, and budgets, as assigned. Coordinate with other project/program team members and consultants, and oversee profit/loss for associated projects and business unit portfolio. Lead and assist in developing new business focused on reclamation mine engineering, mining operations, and treatment plant operations.
Familiarity with water modeling and 3-D visualization tools, the Carlson Civil suite of mine related software and/or ArcGIS. Experience working with patented mining claim records, is a plus.

Licensed Professional Engineer (PE).
Expertise with the following software: AutoCAD; Microsoft Office Suite including Word and Excel.
Individual preferably will have several years of experience in an operating mine, and/or working for a state or federal entity overseeing mine permitting or preferably abandoned mine land reclamation work. Experience designing strategies to extinguish abandon coal mine fires is a plus.
Knowledge of the regulatory and environmental climate surrounding the mining reclamation industry is a plus. Working relationships with regulatory agencies, mining companies and the associated stakeholders from associated interest groups throughout the northwestern U.S. is preferred.
Spectrum is looking for a seasoned engineer (seller/doer) who has 10+ years of hands-on mine or environmental reclamation and remediation planning and design experience in addition to overseeing the production of plans and specifications by others. Previous mining business development experience and proven ability to lead and win proposals, is required.
Current MSHA and HAZWOPER certification or ability to obtain. Project Management Professional (PMP) through Project Management Institute (PMI) and Construction Quality Management (CQM) Certification from the US Army Corps of Engineers is considered a plus.
Bachelors of Science Degree in Mining, Civil, Geological or Environmental Engineering or comparable.
Must have current Professional Engineer (P.E.) registration. Must be able to get registered in Montana, South Dakota, Utah and Wyoming.
