Contribute as a member of the Econolite Systems team to develop and deliver technically centric solutions to maximize the operational efficiency of our customers. The systems team is a group transportation professionals with a passion to enhance the delivery of transportation services through deployment of technical solutions. Assess and analyze customer specifications and develop appropriate solutions to meet and exceed expectations
Assist in system design including infrastructure, network, and integration activities
Assist in planning new system deployments by estimating resource requirements (e.g. hours, materials) required to complete the project, and travel to customer sites and assist with installation/configuration
Troubleshoot and investigate existing equipment, new technologies, and other issues by working with contractors and customers
Provide technical input to software development, based upon field product performance
Lead training classes for customers on the new technology, traffic signal controllers and central systems
Performs other duties as required and assigned
A technical degree, preferably in Civil (transportation) or Electrical Engineering, or evidence of equivalent relevant technical experience
The ability to think analytically and solve complex problems
Excellent communications skills, written and verbal (public speaking and presentation skills)
Understand and have empathy for customers’ point of view
Must have a valid driver’s license to meet company standards
Experience within the traffic signal industry
Experience troubleshooting TCP/IP network communications, and understand remote access technologies ( i.e. Cisco VPN, Nortel VPN, Microsoft Remote Desktop)
Experience with Microsoft operating systems at both a Server and PC level, and SQL databases
Engineers should expect to be out of the office at least two weeks per month. Travel is usually scheduled to leave on Mondays and return by Friday. Occasional project requirements dictate travel on Sundays to be available for Monday training sessions. Travel could exceed 50% at times.
