This person shall provide technical assistance to field employees, region staff, internal and external customers as a member of the Central Region Technical Staff. This person will provide support and direction for installation, commissioning, replacement, repair, and operation of company measurement and regulation stations, its associated ancillary and controls equipment. This person will recognize and evaluate operational problems as well as provide solutions and recommendations. This person will provide training for operations and maintenance employees on equipment and software used by the measurement department.
This person shall provide technical support for Electronic Gas Measurement equipment, AC and solar electrical power systems, transmitters and their communication interface, metering devices, pressure regulators, control valves, gas quality instruments and systems. This person will specify equipment, write scopes of work, provide training and safety programs, review interconnect agreements and drawings, manage projects, and troubleshoot equipment.
This person should be knowledgeable in the measurement discipline, including AGA requirements, company standards, operation of equipment, and hazardous location classification with regards to natural gas pipeline facilities.
The candidate will be responsible for providing training and technical guidance for Area Measurement technicians with respect to the Company’s Employee Qualification Program as well as the Operator Qualification training, evaluation, and Region approval sign-off. Additionally, this person will provide training to technicians to disseminate knowledge on new equipment, procedures (Standard Operating Procedures), as well as testing and assessment tools to address various measurement issues and concerns.
This person will assist in the development of Region policies, procedures, and guidelines and ensure that these and other company procedures, as well as local, state and federal guidelines, regulations and laws are met within Region.
Responsibilities & Duties
Leader in problem solving for multiple products and platforms. Provide leadership and direction to field technicians as required to resolve maintenance issues and as an adviser on Capital Projects.
Assist cost estimating, budgeting, and in obtaining clear scope definitions in order to obtain accurate cost estimates and project definitions.
Responsible for scheduling, cost control and forecasting for the assigned projects and reporting these to the Supervisor of Measurement & Telecommunications.
Participate in design reviews with the Company’s Engineering & Construction Department, and external customers for review and approval of design criteria and construction drawing packages.
Formulate material bid specifications and requisitions; evaluate bids and make material selections.
Work with the Procurement group to order materials for on-time delivery to the job site.
Provide technical direction and assistance to area/field employees through training, written, and verbal communication to operate, install test and assess company facilities in a safe, reliable, and efficient manner.
Assist in developing and maintaining company specifications and standards.
Associates degree in a technically related field plus 4 yrs experience in gas transmission or a related field OR 6 years minimum experience in technically related field.
Demonstrated verbal and written communications skills.
Demonstrated ability to self-manage, set priorities and establish goals as well as work effectively with others in a team environment.
Demonstrated proficiency in the use of computer applications such as Word, Excel, Project, SharePoint, SAP, and measurement specific programs.
Ability to direct and coordinate the work of others.
Ability to train others and evaluate and recommend training of others in the measurement field.
Possess advanced troubleshooting skills and stays abreast of new technology.
Ability to lead others on projects and resolving operational issues.
Must be adaptable to changing project types and workloads.
Must be able to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
Achieved minimum of Level II Measurement Technician.
8 years experience in the Measurement field.
Possess knowledge and experience with new and existing RTUs
Possess knowledge and experience with measurement related equipment
Residence Requirements: Live within 30 miles of the Central Region’s Nashville, Tennessee Office.
Perform physically demanding activities in all types of weather conditions.
Willing to work overtime, be on call, and travel overnight.
