The Engineering Lead supervises a team consisting of engineers and/or technicians and provides technical leadership and direction. The Lead coordinates the activities of the team to meet the production and quality goals set by management. The Lead has full responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating technical assignments, ensuring the use of proper standards and procedures, and recommending process improvements. The Lead collaborates with peers and other departments to help minimize workflow issues and provides guidance to the team on standards and guidelines regarding technical matters pertaining to their engineering projects.
Lead, develop, and mentor engineers and/or technicians for continuous improvement of technical expertise, professional development, and career path planning.
Schedule, assign, and coordinate projects for team to ensure clients’ cycle time and quality expectations are met.
Train team members on technical matters and departmental processes.
Ensure the quality and accuracy of calculations, reports, and drawings produced by team.
Exercise technical responsibility required within areas of technical competence which could include sealing engineering work performed by the team.
Analyze engineering data, perform calculations, and generate engineering reports and drawings.
Keep abreast of new technical methods and developments in engineering.
Provide reporting on the performance of the team to management.
Act as a point of contact for clients.
Scope of Job:
Assign and schedule projects considering skills of individual team members and needs of clients.
Manage workflow of team to ensure projects stay on track.
Perform structural analyses and modification designs of telecommunication towers and other structures.
Review structural analyses and modification designs completed by team members.
Coordinate scheduling of modification design projects with CAD department.
Work with Geotechnical Engineering, Construction, Engineering Investigative Services, and other departments to assess needs for structural engineering projects.
Assist internal and external clients with engineering and project management issues and questions.
Update internal and external clients on status of projects.
Coordinate with other structural engineering teams to maintain proper balance of projects.
Provide reports to management regarding team production and quality.
Implement and enforce internal engineering and process guidelines and standards.
Collaborate with clients to determine proper methods for engineering analysis.
Develop, review, and maintain proprietary engineering tools used for project engineering and management.
Review and take responsible charge as engineer or record (EOR) for engineering reports and drawings produced by team.
Develop and improve own engineering and management skills.
Provide ongoing training of team members.
Correspond with internal and external clients, contractors, and other project stakeholders.
Lead departmental committees focusing on development and improvement of engineering tools, calculations, processes, and standards.
Assist in specific client management as determined by the Engineering Manager and Director of Engineering.
Actively participate in professional associations and societies.

Bachelor’s degree in civil or structural engineering or related field required.
Master’s degree in civil or structural engineering or related field preferred.
Professional engineer (PE) license is strongly preferred.
4+ years of experience in structural engineering of towers, commercial buildings, or other structures.
2+ years of supervisory experience preferred.
Experience in client management and engineering project management preferred.
